Podcasting with iTunes
The easiest method is probably using iTunes, since you can use the same program to download the podcast and listen to it. You can get iTunes for free by going to http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/, selecting your operating system (Windows or Mac OS). Once it's installed, set up the podcast like so:
- Start iTunes and click the podcast button located in the Source window to the left. Screenshot
- Click the Advanced menu and select Subscribe to podcast. Screenshot
- A window will pop up asking for the podcast address. Copy and paste this address: http://firstbaptistunion.org/audio/FBCUnionNJUSA.xml and click OK.
- Next, determine if you want iTunes to automatically check for updates and when by clicking the Settings button in the bottom right corner. Screenshot
- From here, you can tell iTunes to check hourly, daily, weekly, or let you check manually by clicking the Update button in the top right corner.
- To listen to a particular podcast, or download older podcasts, click the little blue arrow to the left of the podcast name to get a full list of available audio.
Using Juice and Winamp
You can also download podcasts using a freeware program called Juice (formerly iPodder). However, Juice itself won't play audio files without an external player. For this, we recommend Winamp, which is also freely available.
- Get Winamp from http://www.winamp.com/player/ and install it.
- To get Juice, go to http://juicereceiver.sourceforge.net/ and choose your platform, Windows or Mac OS. On the next page, select a location that's closest to you and click Download. After a moment, a download window should pop up allowing you to download the installation file. Install as usual.
- Start Juice and click the File menu at the top and select Preferences. From here, select the folder where you'd like to store your podcasts by clicking Browse in the bottom right corner. While still in Preferences, click the Player tab at the top and select Winamp.
- Click the Add New Feed button (green circle with a white plus sign) and copy and paste the address: http://firstbaptistunion.org/audio/FBCUnionNJUSA.xml and click Save. Screenshot
- To download new podcasts simply click the Check for new Podcasts button (leftmost button, green with two arrows) and Juice will automatically download any episodes you don't have.
- To listen to your newly acquired audio, select the podcast you want under the Subscriptions tab, choose the file, and click the green play button to the left to start it in Winamp. You can also open the folder where you store your downloaded podcasts and double-click the file to open it in Winamp.
